IFA - test laboratory for abrasive products

The IFA (Institute for Occupational Safety and Health of the German Social Accident Insurance) is the central research & test institute of the industrial employers' liability insurance associations. On behalf of the oSa, the IFA examines the extent to which the safety requirements placed on abrasives are met. The abrasive products made by oSa affiliated companies are tested as to their stability and resistance to fracturing in accordance with the relevant European safety standards.

The testing laboratory for abrasives carries out the safety tests needed on all kinds and types of abrasive products including:

Bonded abrasive products
Coated abrasives
Superabrasives with diamond or boron nitride
Brush products
Protective hoods for abrasive machines.

The laboratory's tasks also include both the continuous development and adaptation of testing procedures to the technical progress made with the products and working on national and international standardization committees.
